General Mediation Skills Setup for dispute resolution training
Sandra Sellers, President, teaches mediation at Georgetown University Law Center, as well as mentors apprentice-mediators for the Supreme Court of Virginia. In-house programs can be tailored to any length, from a two-hour luncheon introduction or refresher, to one or two full-day sessions, with time for each participant to practice mediation skills and receive individual feedback.
Most attorneys are comfortable in their roles as legal advocates in litigation, but many are unsure of how their roles differ when representing clients in mediation. Attorneys who do not understand these differences do not gain the maximum benefit from mediation, to their clients’ detriment. Interactive training sessions help prepare attorneys to represent their clients in this unique arena, which is becoming increasingly popular.
